- Fairclough schooled at Forest School in Walthamstow and represented their alumni team the Old Foresters whom he captained and led to victory in the London Cup. Professionally he was a member of the Stock Exchange for 50 years. He was tragically killed in a road accident outside Tubs Hill station in Sevenoaks in 1947. He was, at the time, the oldest England International.
